Government |
- The City operates under a Mayor/Council form of government. The 17 member
Common Council establishes operating policies and adopts legislation in the form of
ordinances and laws.
- The Police Chief is guided by the five member Police and Fire Commission,
which acts on appointments and promotions, hears grievances, and reviews disciplinary
actions taken by the Chief and the command staff of the Department. Day to day
administrative oversight of the Police Department is provided by the Mayor and City
